PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.—AVIVA, the first independent living senior rental community in St. Lucie West, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce officiated the event, along with the community’s first residents, AVIVA’s corporate leadership executives and partners and the community’s team members.

“From the beginning, we recognized Port St. Lucie needed an independent living rental community geared to the 55+ population,” said Executive Director Michele Gyscek in her opening remarks. “AVIVA has been well received, and our grand opening is an opportunity to show our appreciation back to the community.”

Other speakers included community partner Patrick Lardi and the community’s developer Lloyd Jones’s Vice President of Sales Lisa Amber. Both spoke about the vision and mission of AVIVA.

“We direct our efforts to changing the stigma of senior living by creating a community where people thrive in independent living,” Amber said. “Our mission is changing what you had yesterday for a better tomorrow.”

The festivities included community tours, entertainment and hors d’oeuvres prepared by the culinary team under the direction of three-star Michelin Executive Chef Mark Rosen.

AVIVA’s one- and two-bedroom residences range from 746 square feet to 1,074 square feet. The community is geared to meet the growing demand for independent living coupled with a low-maintenance lifestyle.

“People in Port St Lucie have needed an alternative to a single-family home. They want freedom from the responsibilities related to home maintenance,” added Gyscek. “At this point in their lives, they want to spend time with grandchildren, travel, pursue new interests and simply enjoy life. AVIVA offers the security of living in a community where residents are 55+. There’s a full calendar of social events, and dining, housekeeping, utilities and high-speed fiber optic Wi-Fi are included in the monthly rental fee, which starts at $3500.

The community has 159 residences and all are accessible to its amenities. On the main floor, the distinctively designed restaurant features a contemporary open concept. The cocktail lounge includes bar and booth seating and offers a gathering spot to meet neighbors. Other amenities are located on the second and third floors, including the fitness center with a variety of cardio and strength training machines, a multi-purpose room and a beauty salon. Outdoor amenities include an outdoor swimming
pool and sundeck, pickle ball courts, putting green, walking trails and a dog park.
